Al Ghurair Expands into Healthcare with the Launch of Trellis Health
The Dubai-based family group launches a new healthcare network, starting with Trellis Hospital in Umm Suqeim, with two additional clinics expected to open by the end of 2026.
Al Ghurair, one of the largest diversified family business groups in the Middle East, has entered the healthcare sector with the launch of Trellis Health. The new group is focused on patient-centric care and long-term health outcomes in the UAE and beyond.
The network begins with Trellis Hospital in Umm Suqeim, formerly known as Gargash Hospital. The JCI-accredited, 50-bed multi-speciality hospital covers more than 35 specialties, including emergency care, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine and general surgery. Al Ghurair chose it as the foundation of the network for its established reputation, experienced clinical teams and close ties to the local community.
Expansion plans
Two Trellis Health clinics are scheduled to open by the end of 2026 in Expo City and Jumeirah Village Circle, two of Dubai’s fastest-growing communities. A further hospital and two more clinics are planned as the network develops.
The group links its investment to the growth targets of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, under which the city’s population is projected to reach 5.8 million by 2040, with a quarter more land allocated to health and education facilities. Trellis Health aims to expand access to high-quality care as these communities grow.
The network is built around a model it calls Connected Caring – care coordinated across every stage of the patient journey. It rests on four commitments: one team around each patient; experts who put patients first; a simplified patient experience supported by smart technology that makes care easier to access and navigate; and caring beyond today.
Leadership comments
John Iossifidis, Group Chief Executive Officer of Al Ghurair, said that for more than six decades the group has supported UAE communities through sectors that “house people, feed people, move people and educate people”, and described healthcare as a natural extension of that role. He added that the group is committed to giving patients access to the best healthcare professionals, placing patients at the centre of every decision.

Nasser Al Ghurair, Family Sponsor of Trellis Health, said the launch reflects the family’s belief that business success carries a responsibility towards the communities it serves, and its long-term commitment to supporting healthier communities across the UAE.
